A few days ago Jeremy's father was walking around their property and stumbled upon a colt that somehow ended up abandoned and possibly left to die by its mother. This sort of thing occasionally happens when the mother cannot provide anymore milk for it to eat. It followed Jeremy's dad a little bit but was so weak that he had to carry him back to the house. They immediately called Jeremy and asked him to bring some baby formula for colts and (which is also good for calves a.k.a. baby cows). They also made sure he had enough electrolytes since he had probably had gone days without food or water. Jeremy and I went over to pay him a visit last Saturday and I thought I'd take my camera along just for the heck of it. He was starting to look so much better bucking and kicking, playing with the puppies and exploring.
So tired. He won't sleep without someone beside him.

Pez finally found a home with a lovely veterinarian and her family today. He seemed to hit it off pretty well with her children. It was sad to see him leave but it is probably the best thing for him at this time. Jeremy's parents considered keeping him but they already have their hands full with the new puppies and other horses they are taking care of. I call him Pez simply because of the puppies. I find that they kind of think of him as a Pez dispenser putting out "'special treats" after he goes...well you know. The pups also seem to enjoy it after Pez feeds (milk from a bowl) because the milk drips off his whiskers and they stand right under him and lick it. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. I never thought I'd like a horse as much as Pez. We've all come to the conclusion though that he was starting to mistake his identity with that of a dog. Then again, I'm not surprised why.
